1. Please Take this Survey
Last Friday I sent out a special issue of Brainy Tidbits.
Many people responded with suggestions and comments. A few
people took the survey that I posted at Survey Monkey. One
person let me know that I wrote a couple of questions in a
confusing manner, so I've revised the survey slightly to
make it easier to answer the questions. If you haven't
already taken this 5-minute survey, will you please do it?
I need some feedback so I can keep giving you information
and products that help you do better in your business.
Thanks. Take the survey.

2. What's Really Stopping You from Creating a High-Paying Information Empire?
For nearly 12 years, top authors, well-known speakers,
information industry moguls and venture-capital
professionals have all written the praises of "publishing
phenomenon" Janet Switzer. You may know her as the secret
marketing weapon behind some of the biggest names in
publishing. For her few select clients, she's generated as
much as $105,000 in five weeks, $31,000 in a matter of hours—and for her last lucky client—$1,018,729 in just 294
days!
She has the uncanny knack of taking a book, an idea, a
training concept or a successful business model and
literally creating an information and publishing empire
around it. She's done it for some of the best--Jay Abraham,
Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen (Chicken Soup for the
Soul), Laurie Beth Jones (Jesus CEO: Using Ancient Wisdom
for Visionary Leadership) and many others--often creating
tens (if not hundreds) of thousands of dollars in record-
time, out of thin air...but more often launching formidable
and enviable new industry giants in the process.
What do these information empires look like? Get Janet's List of 52 Profit Centers FREE.
Janet has created an entire publishing empire in one year,
creates lucrative seminar programs in one weekend, and
negotiates major joint-venture deals in less than an hour.
She's an absolute genius when it comes to turning a person's
business expertise or training idea into an information
empire that generates an ongoing stream of predictable
profits. She's helped doctors, lawyers, speakers, CPAs,
business owners, service providers, Neurolinguistic Programming
(NLP) practitioners, parents, mothers, teachers,
salespeople, network marketers and fledgling authors--plus
countless other types of experts and business owners.
Her fees are astronomical—15% to 50% of gross proceeds—for
those experts lucky enough to become clients.
In fact, Janet has become so good at what she does, she can
virtually guarantee publishing success for nearly any kind
of author, professional practitioner or entrepreneur in the
country, regardless of subject matter. However, her most
precious asset is her time—and she guards that time
judiciously.
The truth is, Janet turns down virtually every potential
client who contacts her (and let me tell you, these authors,
business owners and experts aggressively pursue her all day
long). It's understandable when you look at her personal
track record and reputation. Janet's clients and their
accomplishments have been seen in The Wall Street Journal,
The New York Times, USA Today, Success Magazine,
Entrepreneur, Publishers Weekly, Sharing Ideas,
People Magazine and "The Oprah Winfrey Show," to name just
a few.
But by far, her favorite projects are information
"sleepers"—books, training concepts, successful business
models and information-based businesses that have such an
ideal combination of marketable information, loyal
customers, easy joint-venture opportunities and other gem-like qualities, that Janet could make tons of money for the
information entrepreneur and herself simply by applying her
powerful marketing strategies!
These are the kinds of businesses for which a simple
marketing campaign, an easy endorsed mailing, a single
magazine ad or a well-written email blast could generate
tens of thousands of dollars in revenue almost overnight.
Yet the owner of the business doesn't even know it!
Oftentimes, they're failing to "monetize" the biggest asset
they own—their expertise, their customer list, their
market posture, industry contacts, you name it. And these
businesses are everywhere, too, if you only know how to
look. (You may even own one of these yourself.)
Of course, Janet doesn't have to look very far. A surprising
number of these businesses simply call her on the phone. But
since she rarely has the time to accept individual clients,
she will never have the opportunity to exploit the vast
number of "sleepers" begging to benefit from her
extraordinary proprietary systems.
Very soon, Janet will run out of time. It's no secret that
in January 2005, Janet Switzer, Jack Canfield and
HarperCollins Publishers released The Success Principles
in bookstores worldwide. HarperCollins paid a fortune for
this book, and not only are they putting the full force of
their own global publishing resources behind The Success
Principles, they’re counting on Janet to market and promote
it into the industry's next publishing phenomenon.
But before Janet walks away from her consulting and deal-making work—potentially forever...
You can hear her live for as little as $29.95 and you can
even be in the "Hot Seat" evaluating your own information
sleepers (if you send in the best pitch).
Join us for "Build
Your Million-Dollar Information Empire" teleseminar when I
interview Janet Switzer on Wednesday, April 27, 2-3 PM
Eastern. Janet will work with one lucky person as our "Hot

all in an hour. And even if you can't attend, you should
sign up because you'll get the MP3 recording automatically,
whether you attend or not, so you can be on your way to
making your first million (or second or third).
To be our "hot seat guest," you'll need to sign up for the April 27 teleseminar AND send me an email pitch about why you should be chosen. What's your signature product? How do you think Janet can help you? What do you want to do? What are your challenges?

3. DJ Service Needs to Fill the Pipeline
Last week, Gary, a Brainy subscriber with a DJ service,
wrote, "I have found that I have to market differently now
than I did 5-10 years ago. My contacts are wedding
coordinators and they are constantly changing. Nobody stays
around more than 6 months. Just as a relationship forms and
trust is established, they are gone and I have to start all
over again. Do you have any creative marketing ideas that
can help me keep my business steady?"
Keeping the pipeline filled when the players continue to
change is a huge problem for small businesses. Of course,
the logical first step is to "go deeper in the
organization." By that I mean, get to know everyone within
the wedding planning company, not just the wedding
coordinator.
This will be tough, of course, if these wedding coordinators
are either independent contractors or the only person in the
company. But if there are other people within the company,
then you can begin by asking the wedding coordinator to
introduce you to other members of her team.
You can also
develop a direct-mail campaign that you send periodically—perhaps three or four times per year—to everyone at the
wedding planning company. Consider making it a postcard with
a punch-out (or cut-out) Rolodex card, inviting the
recipient to put it in their Rolodex. I suspect many of
these folks still rely on the tried-and-true Rolodex instead
of a computer database. It can be the exact same three-
mailing series, mailed three to four times per year.
Repetition is good. You want them to see the same thing
repeatedly so they remember who you are and what you do. I
could see it with your picture on it, spinning "records" and
working at what you do, along with the Rolodex card. Make
sure the picture ends up on the reverse side of the Rolodex
card so it will remain there when they cut it out and therefore you will be remembered.
Next, expand your network for referrals. You should be able
to get referrals from anyone who works with brides or people
setting up parties. So branch out and get to know bakery
owners who make wedding cakes, travel agents who set up
honeymoons, bridal stores, churches, caterers, hotels, bed
and breakfasts and other facilities that are good venues for
parties like this. Everyone should be willing to work with
you because you are in a position to also refer business to
them. Remember, the first rule of networking is to give
first. Give referrals to others and they will be more likely
to give them to you.
Also, get written testimonials from each of your clients.
You can even prepare a form for the bride and groom or party
planner to fill in asking them their name, address, phone,
and three things that really impressed them about you. Try
to get them to be specific, and make sure you have
permission to print their testimonials on your promotional
materials, including your website. These tesimonials can be
used in a variety of ways—even as part of your direct-mail
campaign.
Always ask your current clients for referrals. Young people
getting married generally have lots of friends who are also
going to get married soon. Get your current clients to tell
their friends how wonderful you are, and pretty soon you
won't need the wedding coordinators.
And if this doesn't give you enough ideas, you can get tons
of great publicity ideas from the teleseminar I did recently
with Joan Stewart, The Publicity Hound. We recorded it and
it's available in CD, MP3 and a printed transcript. Read
more about "How to Use the Media to Market Your Expertise" and order yours now.

4. Help This Brainy Marketer
Lesley M. Mize, a Brainy subscriber who runs a custom
drapery workroom recently asked, "I work alone in my home,
and have been in this business for five years. However,
about two-and-a-half years ago I moved to a new area so I
had to start all over again. I need to do things to build up
my clientele. Last year was my best year in gross sales, but
this year is starting slow. Can you give me ideas to help me
build my business?"
I have several ideas, but I'm sure my readers will offer
some interesting solutions. How about it, Brainy readers?
Send in your suggestions, and I'll print the responses next
week.

8. Resources for Marketers & Entrepreneurs
I've been in my car a lot lately. Normally, this feels like
wasted time to me, but since I now have an MP3 player and a
car converter, I've been able to listen to several
teleseminars I had saved on my computer. It's sometimes hard
to listen to teleseminars at my desk. I like to focus on
them, and if I'm at my desk, I tend to try to do other
things at the same time—answer email, write a sales letter,
upload new products, and so on. Invariably, I either miss
lots of the content from the teleseminar, or I mess up the
project I'm working on. My mind doesn't seem to be able to
do two things at the same time right. (But I can walk and
chew gum. ;-)
Anyway, yesterday I listened to a lengthy seminar of Jim
Edwards being interviewed by Yanik Silver about creating
mini sites as a way to quickly generate massive amounts of
income. Jim talked about how he took down a website that had
300 pages of content and replaced it with one that had five
pages. And his income immediately jumped phenomenally. Then
he went on to talk about the five different kinds of mini sites and
their purposes. If you're interested in learning about this,
pick up a free copy of the ebook that Jim Edwards did with
Jeannette Cates (which also includes a link to an MP3
recording of a similar teleseminar) here.
Want to start making money online? Read this free ebook
that Jim Edwards and Yanik Silver wrote together, "Case
Study for 33 Days to Online Profits" (and you'll also be
given a link to buy the full ebook/tutorial to create your
own online profits).

10. Smell the Coffee...
If you've been reading my ezine awhile, you know that I
think my children are pretty extraordinary. The younger two are
still developing their uniqueness, but the older two have
grown into brilliant, caring young women.
For example, Erin, second oldest (and my only biological
child), just had her first article accepted. She's a lawyer
in Milwaukee and she recently passed the patent bar. So now,
she's following her mom's advice and publishing articles to
develop her expertise in the eyes of potential clients and
to attract new clients.
Erin will have an article she co-authored with another attorney in her firm published in two
parts in the April and May issues of "Claims Magazine." :-)
Thanks for all your suggestions and feedback following last
week's "Friday Musings." Healthwise, things are going fine.
My anticipation was far worse than what actually happened
when I went off HRT cold turkey. I was greatly surprised!
And, this week, I'll have better sleep because Don's out of
town on business until Thursday night. (Ahhh, the blessings
of having a traveling salesman as a husband!)
Peace & Light,
Lois
