1. Tips to Grow Your Ezine Subscriptions
As you can see, my overall ezine subscription list is
growing—though not with the speed of light. This week it's
a net growth of just .3%.
That's because lately one of the things I've done is remind
all of my subscribers about various happenings by sending
additional emails. And when you do that, you can be assured
that several subscribers will take advantage of your special
0ffers, while a small percentage of your current subscribers
will decide to un*subscribe. On my list, about 3 or 4 people
ask to be rem0ved after a special mailing. That's about 1%
of my current list. To me, the cost is worth the benefit
because when people take advantage of my special offers, I
make money.
Others, like Joan Stewart, The Publicity Hound, rarely send
special promotional mailings because, as she says,
"Everytime I do, 30 subscribers un*subscribe." Now, on a
list of over 12,000 subscribers like Joan has, that doesn't
seem too bad to me. Her list is growing at a net rate of 80+
subscribers each week, so from my point of view, that's a
cost-benefit that I could live with. But only Joan can tell
what the monetary value of each subscriber is to her.
If you have an ezine and are trying to grow your subscriber
list, this cost/benefit analysis is something you should
definitely consider. Should you email more often or less
often? That depends on you and your subscribers and the importance of the special mailing. Also, is it well-written so people will open it? If not, don't bother.
Here are a few other tips to help you grow your list.

3. How to Make a Resume Writing Business Interesting
Last week, Christina at Alterra Career Services asked, "How
do I make my resume writing service stand out from the rest?
We offer friendly service and professional work at very
reasonable prices, but how do I make that INTERESTING?"
One way to do this is to create a niche for your company—
that is, only take clients who are seeking health-care
positions or focus entirely on a specialty like placing candidates in marketing
jobs.
Provide an extra value to your clients, too. Joint venture
(partner) with an image consultant and an executive coach to
provide a package deal. Clients would not only get a
professional resume, but they also get an image evaluation
and the opportunity to do practice interviews with a coach.
What's your success rate? Can you tout that? When you create
a resume for someone, how long does it generally take your
client to get the job they want? Is this better than the
local or national average?
Do you publish a print or online newsletter? Does your website
offer compelling content that helps people find jobs? Does
it link to online resources like Monster.com
where they can post their resumes and search for jobs? Do
you help people search for jobs? All of these would set you
apart.
Do you offer a tips booklet to help the job seeker create
the best image when sending their resume, networking for a
job, and interviewing? Learn how tomorrow by attending our
teleseminar!

4. Help This Brainy Marketer
Subscriber Linda Joyce Lipinski writes, "I love your idea to
reach the 50+ age group with fresh new products that appeal
to them. That was my idea when I created my product, A
Legacy To Remember® in 1999. Our album was winner of the
National Mail Order Association's Made in America - Hot
Product Contest. How can I use this fact for publicity and
get more mileage out of this honor?"
I have several ideas, but I'm sure my readers will offer
some interesting solutions. How about it, Brainy readers?
Send in your suggestions, and I'll print the responses next
week.

6. Testimonial
"Lois,
"Ok, I'm impressed with your network for visibility.
"I've been on local TV and have been on national radio plus
lots of press. [Editor's note: as a result of the profile I
wrote]
"However, in a just couple of weeks, your online community
links have risen to the top of the Google search when you
type in my name. That is very good reach and I commend you
for creating such an extensive network.
"Now, to turn that visibility into revenue! Thank you!"

Founder of CommuniCard
I profiled Sylvia in my ezine "Success Secrets of Women
Business Owners" on March 16. As with all of these profiles,
I submitted the business profile and the WBO's tips for
success as two news releases on PRWeb. It is
certainly good testimony for using this service, isn't it?

Google AdSense Book
I'm working hard at learning how to monetize my website with
Google AdSense. I recently listened to a teleseminar with
Christopher Knight and Joel Comm on the subject. It was very
good, and Joel has an excellent ebook available. Joel Comm
is making over $500 a day—or $15,000 to $18,000 a month—from his AdSense program. Because he was so successful,
his business associates and friends convinced him to write
"What Google Never Told You About Making Money with

10. Smell the Coffee...
Yesterday, I had my dog's teeth cleaned. While she was there
and under anesthesia, they also removed a small tumor from
her chest and cut her nails. Poor Lulu! She came home and
whimpered all evening. I'll bet everything hurt. The vet cut
her nails so short, they bled! I certainly wasn't expecting
that.
Tomorrow is my mother-in-law's 80th birthday. Happy
birthday, Momma Betty! (Of course, she won't see this
because she doesn't own or use a computer.) It's also my
former sister-in-law's birthday. Happy birthday, Julie!
We're headed over to Momma Betty's to celebrate with her
this weekend. It will be a fun weekend because lots of
relatives are showing up, including our oldest daughter,
Abbi, and her family. Little Madeline (granddaughter) will
be there, too, of course! Sadly, our daughter Erin can't
attend. (I was too slow in asking her and she couldn't work
it into her plans. Bad Lois!) Hopefully, we'll see Erin
soon, too.
Both Lulu and our cat, Abelgirk, have to go to the pet
resort for the weekend. They won't have as much fun as we
do, but they'll be well-cared for.
Peace & Light,
Lois
