2. Thanks Times Ten

With the holidays approaching and Thanksgiving right around the corner,
it's time to consider creative ways to say "Thank you" to clients,
business associates, subscribers and other important people. And it
doesn't have to be expensive. Here are ten creative ways to say
"Thanks!"

  • Send a simple thank-you card, expressing your appreciation.
    Be sure to list specific reasons that you enjoy the relationship.

  • If you are an information entrepreneur, you can send an email to your
    subscribers and customers, thanking them for their business and
    offering a free gift or a significantly reduced price on one of your
    products. Even if you don't sell information products, you can still
    send an email thank-you note.

  • Pick up the phone and personally say "thank you" warmly and
    enthusiastically. Express how much you appreciate the business.

  • Have food or flowers delivered to your clients. By now I'm sure you
    know one of my clients is Rowena's, a specialty food producer in
    Norfolk, Va. I usually order one of Rowena's small cakes for each
    of my clients. It not only shows my appreciation, but it also tells
    Rowena's that I appreciate and support its business. The cakes
    are delicious, too!

  • Send a special book to each customer. This can be something for
    business or pleasure, but don't make it too controversial. Stay
    away from religion and politics since your customers might think
    differently than you do.

  • Send an inexpensive gift basket filled with goodies. Gift baskets
    come in all sizes, shapes and price ranges. You can even buy
    them online at ABC Gifts & Baskets and they can be tailored to
    include items that represent your business or industry.

  • Create your own special gift, like a recipe book comprised of your
    employees' favorite holiday recipes or a mini book of inspirational
    quotes or business tips. You can print them on index cards and wrap
    them in a special bow for a beautiful presentation.

  • Have promotional items created that represent your company and are
    likely to be valued by your clients—like a quality CD holder with
    your logo on it, or a paperweight with an inspirational quote from
    you along with your logo. Distribute these to your customers.

  • Make a special effort to refer new business to the customers and
    associates you would like to thank.

  • Create a special certificate for each client, frame it and deliver
    it in person. Make sure it is something your client would be proud
    to hang on his or her wall.


    And now, just a word of caution.
    Be sure to follow the rules of your industry when you send your thank-yous.
    Government employees, for instance, cannot receive anything that is valued
    at $5 or more.

    You'll also want to be careful if you are thanking the media. A hand-written
    note telling reporters or editors how much you enjoy reading their
    articles is appropriate for the print media. Never send them food
    or gifts, however.


    On the other hand, radio DJs and producers love to receive food. So do
    TV reporters, anchors, assignment editors, producers and even the
    weather person.

    Don't get caught by not knowing the rules.

4. How to Get the Most Out of Your Mastermind Group

If you haven't heard of and aren't a member of a Mastermind Group,
you are missing out! What's a Mastermind Group? It's like your own
little "Success Team," consisting of several people in non-competing
industries who help each other reach their goals. If you’re forming
one, here are some pointers:

  • Keep membership at 6 to 8 people.
  • Join a group in which the people are not exactly like you.
  • Agree at the outset on participation and leadership objectives
    and guidelines.
  • Meet regularly. An in-person meeting once a month is best.
  • Listen to one another.
  • Offer solutions only when asked for them.
  • Create an atmosphere of trust.
  • Maintain diplomacy while honestly critiquing a member's plans.
  • Encourage creativity and problem-solving.
  • Hold members accountable.

A Little Fun

Thanks to Web Marketing Ezine for this one:

A marketing manager got married to a woman who had previously been
married eight times. On his wedding night, his wife informed him
that she was still a virgin. This was her explanation:

My first husband was a sales representative who spent our entire
marriage telling me, in grandiose terms, "It's gonna be great!"

My second husband was from software services; he was never quite sure
how it was supposed to function, but he said he would send me the
documentation.

My third husband was an accountant. His comments were that he knew how,
but he just wasn't sure whether or not it was his job.

My fourth husband was a teacher, and he simply said, "Those who can...
do; those who can't...teach".

My fifth husband was an engineer. He told me that he understood the
basic process but needed three years to research, implement and
design a new state-of-the-art method.

My sixth husband was a psychiatrist and all he ever wanted to do was
talk about it.

My seventh husband was a help-desk coordinator and he kept teaching me
how to do it myself.

My eighth husband was in technical support, and he kept saying, "Don't worry,
it'll be up any minute now."

The wife said sweetly to her new husband, "Now I am married to you, a man
of marketing."

The husband looked at his wife and simply said, "I know I have
the product; I'm just not sure how to position it."

7 . Smell the Coffee...

Happy Thanksgiving to you. It's a great time to be thankful, even
if you are one of my subscribers who lives in Malasia or Australia
and you don't celebrate Thanksgiving.

I have much to be thankful for. I'm sure you do, too. I have a loving
husband, four terrific kids, everyone's healthy, and my business is growing.

My sister Judy has been having some health problems. She just let me know
that after several tests, the doctors have ruled out MS, Parkinson's Disease
and several more debilitating illnesses. They have, however, diagnosed her
with "Essential Tremors," which is apparently quite common. At this point,
her symptoms are helped with seizure medication so she is feeling much
better.

My cat Abelgirk just showed me how thankful he is to live at my house. He
brought me a little vole (it's like a mouse) and dropped it on the mat
outside my front door. He's whining to come in with his treasure. ;-)
